Configuration and Documentation Specialist

The position of Configuration and Documentation Specialist will perform Configuration Management activities for all departments at Techlink Entertainment as defined by a prioritized approved projects list in accordance with established processes. This position will also perform Technical Communications activities including layout and preparation of internal and customer deliverable documentation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare hard and soft copies of documents for external customers and for all approved projects for applicable departments at Techlink.
  • Writing, editing and updating system documentation for a variety of audiences including: technical staff and the system end users.
  • Develop and implement Standard Documentation Templates for use by all departments as part of the Technical Communication processes.
  • Ensure that all hard and soft copies of documents are reviewed and signed off as required by established processes before they are delivered to the customer.
  • Provide scheduled reports to the Product Testing & QA Manager as required.
  • Communicate and work with other departments within your discipline as required.
  • Continually update and maintain knowledge of the industry trends within your discipline.
  • Responsible for the control and tracking of distribution, for Techlink and customer supplied documents and records.
  • Responsible for preparing product submission packages for customers.
  • Ensure that work is performed in accordance with all company procedures and processes.

Qualifications:

  • Must have the ability to meet company goals & objectives with minimal supervision.
  • Must have good organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Be an effective communicator, both written and oral.
  • Pays attention to detail and is well organized.
  • A self-motivated team player

Work Environment:

  • Works in a physically comfortable environment.

Education and Experience:

  • Post secondary education and/or equivalent experience in technical writing.
  • Must have experience with desktop publishing software such as FrameMaker, InDesign, PageMaker, QuarkXpress, etc.
  • Must have experience with the manipulation and management of electronic documents and graphics files including backup and CD/DVD burning.
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat would be an asset.
  • Experience with document and software revision control systems would be an asset.
  • Experience with digital photography and entry-level CAD drawings would be an asset.
