Database Administrator

The ideal candidate for this position will be a seasoned DBA having a minimum of 2 years experience. This position requires solid experience with installation, administration, design, capacity planning, architecture, tuning and optimization of the database.

Daily Activities include but not limited to:

  • Maintain multiple development, test and production oracle databases.
  • Bash shell scripting.
  • Schema design and normalization.
  • Perform routine DBA tasks such as creating new tablespaces and users, granting privileges, altering init parameters, creating tables and indexes.
  • Install, configure and administer Automatic Storage Management (ASM).
  • Communicate with hardware vendors for support.

Requirements:

  • 2 years minimum full-time, progressive experience in relational database design, setup, administration and management using Oracle.
  • Firm understanding of Oracle database concepts: SGA, PGA, SPFILE, controlfiles, datafiles, tempfiles, undo, redo, archived logs, flash recovery area, etc.
  • Oracle 10g experience.
  • PL/SQL and SQL experience.
  • 1 year minimum progressive experience with Linux network design, setup, administration and management.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and presentation).
  • Experience working in a software development environment.
  • Computer Science degree or equivalent plus experience.
  • SQL Server experience is an asset.

Preference will be given to candidates with these additional qualifications:

  • DBA Certified Professional designation.
  • Red Hat Advanced Server experience.
  • SAN familiarity.
